Swanson Superior Herbs DGL (Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice) (385mg, 180 Chewable Tablets)

Swanson DGL (deglycyrrhizinated licorice) is a special licorice extract that provides specific support for sensitive gastrointestinal tissues. It’s the all-natural, pleasantly sweet way to tackle turbulence, and it also provides a protective coating to the mucosal lining of the esophagus, stomach & intestinal tract.

  • All-natural way to soothe and settle the stomach
  • Coats and protects the lining of the esophagus, stomach and intestinal tract
  • Sweetened with fruit juice; no sucrose

DGL for Barrett’s Esophagus Studies have shown that DGL may increase mucous production and accelerate the healing of duodenal and gastric ulcers. It has also been proven effective in the treatment of chronic stomach discomfort and protect the stomach from NSAIDs (such as aspirin). In Barrett’s esophagus, due to stress on the tissue, normal epithelial cells are replaced by cells similar to those lining the intestinal tract. Since licorice targets these cells specifically, it has strong potential to help heal tissue damage related to Barrett’s esophagus.DGL for Acid Reflux Acid reflux is a common condition that occurs when stomach acid leaks through the lower esophageal sphincter (LES). The rise of acid can cause a burning sensation in the chest or throat, and create trouble swallowing. Specific foods can increase acid and decrease the function of the LES. Excess acid irritates esophageal membranes and leads to more serious complications and cell damage. Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice (DGL) decreases occurrence of reflux and can soothe mucus membranes.

Life changing DGL I just wanted to let everybody know that DGL has changed my life! I have been on Lansoprazole for over 12 months following severe bouts of acid reflux so bad that I thought I was having a heart attack! I was still getting bouts of acid reflux even when taking the Lanzoprazole and my Doctor told me to take additional antacids such as Gaviscon, Asilone etc. as well. But this was no way to carry on! I then read an article about DGL and thought I would give it a try! It settled my whole system…
